Toddler Nutrition
Alert

Toddler Nutrition Alert is an empowerment program to fulfill the need for balanced nutritional intake in toddlers through a family approach.

Background

The problems of toddler nutrition in Indonesia are divided into 3 areas, namely stunting, wasting and underweight.

Riskesdas 2018 shows that stunting (height for age below standard) in children is the most common form of malnutrition in Indonesia, affecting 30.8% of toddlers. Although there are some indications of improvement, stunting rates remain high in the easternmost and westernmost regions of Indonesia with the lowest figure of 17.7% in DKI Jakarta and the highest figure of 42.6% in East Nusa Tenggara.

Wasting (weight for height below standard) is also a major nutritional challenge affecting 10.2% of toddlers. Wasting children have an 11.6 times greater risk of death than well-nourished children and those who survive can continue to experience developmental problems throughout their lives.

Responding to the above phenomenon, handling toddler nutrition is very important to be carried out together in an effort to resolve nutritional problems in Indonesia, especially in children.

IMPLEMENTATION LOCATION OF THE CITA SEHAT GUIDANCE AREA

One Day One Egg

One Day One Egg is a stunting eradication program with a method of distributing 1 egg for each toddler for a minimum of 3 months.
This program is supported by preventive and promotive interventions for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and health cadres in the area.

The provision of eggs is in line with the recommendation of the Ministry of Health, namely increasing animal protein intake to reduce stunting rates in Indonesia.

Eggs are chosen as the main source of animal protein compared to other animal food sources because they have high nutritional content, are easy to obtain, are relatively affordable, have a long shelf life and do not require special tools during storage.

Pondok Gizi

Pondok Gizi is a program with primary intervention for toddlers at risk of stunting by providing ready-to-eat food packages during the day and evening with a menu that has been adjusted to the nutritional needs of the target.

In the Pondok Gizi program, Cita Sehat adheres to the principle in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health in 2018, namely that every child in their growth period should increase their protein sources and continue to get used to consuming fruits and vegetables.
