Eggs are an effective source of animal protein for preventing stunting. Based on research results from the Dohara Publisher Open Access Journal, the average height of toddlers before being given eggs was 74.81 cm, while the average height of toddlers after being given eggs intensively every day increased to 79.00 cm.
There are several reasons why eggs can effectively prevent stunting:
- Rich in Protein: Protein is essential for children’s growth and development. Eggs contain all the essential amino acids the body needs to build tissue, including muscles and organs.
- Sources of Vitamins and Minerals: Eggs contain vitamins A, D, B12, and iron, which are important for the development of children’s bones, brains, and immune systems. A lack of these nutrients can lead to growth disorders.
- Good Cholesterol and Healthy Fats: Eggs also contain healthy fats that aid in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and support cell function and brain development.
- Easy to Digest: Egg protein is easily digested by the body, making it easier for growing children to utilize.
- Affordable and Easily Available: Eggs are relatively inexpensive and accessible to all segments of society, making them a practical choice for daily protein intake.
Implementation of Education to Prevent Stunting with Eggs
Surabaya – In an effort to reduce stunting rates in Indonesia, Cita Sehat Clinic and ProBaby once again held a health education event with the theme “Prevent Stunting with Eggs.” This event was held at the Cita Sehat Clinic in Surabaya on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

This health education program on preventing stunting began with the opening of the event by the MC and a pretest to assess the participants’ knowledge before the presentation of material on Preventing Stunting with Eggs.
After the pretest was completed by all participants. The event then continued with a presentation on Preventing Stunting with Eggs by nutritionist Mrs. Rizkha ANC, Amd.Gz. “Animal protein has been proven to affect children’s height growth. Consuming one egg a day can reduce the risk of stunting by up to 45%,” said Mrs. Rizkha ANC, Amd.Gz during the presentation.
In addition to providing education on preventing stunting with eggs, there was also a practical session on processing eggs into one of the Indonesian people’s favorite egg dishes, martabak telur. During this session, the participants listened enthusiastically to the material presented and asked questions of the speakers.

At the end of the event, participants were given a post-test and gifts from ProBaby. The mothers who participated were very happy to be able to learn at the Cita Sehat Clinic. “I am very happy to have been able to attend today’s educational event. It was very interesting and added to my knowledge. I now understand the importance of consuming eggs every day for my child. Thank you to the Cita Sehat Clinic and ProBaby for organizing this event,” said Mrs. Sulika, one of the participants who attended.
