Health facilities are public facilities that play a very important role, namely as a place for people to get health care.

According to the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health Regulation Number 24 of 2022, Health Service Facilities are tools and/or places used to provide health service efforts, whether promotive, preventive, curative or rehabilitative, carried out by the government, regional government and/or the community.

Various Health Facilities

  1. Place of independent practice for doctors, dentists and/or other health workers
  2. Health Center
  3. Clinic
  4. Hospital
  5. Pharmacy
  6. Health laboratory
  7. Health Hall
  8. Other Health Service Facilities determined by the Minister

The number and quality of health service facilities in an area is one of the parameters commonly used to assess the quality of life in that area. Therefore improving the quality of health service facilities is very important. One way to achieve this is by accrediting health service facilities. Accreditation is recognition given by an independent accreditation agency determined by the minister after meeting accreditation standards.

Clinics are one of the health service facilities that we often encounter, this time we will discuss accreditation of clinics.

A clinic is a health service facility that provides health services that provide comprehensive basic and/or specialist medical services. Clinics are divided into 2 types, namely primary clinics and main clinics.

Pratama clinics are clinics that only provide basic medical services, in accordance with the competence of doctors or dentists. Health service efforts at the Pratama clinic include aspects of basic outpatient and inpatient medical services.

Meanwhile, the main clinic provides specialist medical services, or basic and specialist medical services. Health service efforts at the main clinic include aspects of specialist medical services, or basic and specialist services. The main clinic can also provide outpatient and inpatient services.

What is Accreditation?

Based on the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health Regulation No. 34 of 2022 concerning Accreditation of Public Health Centers, Clinics, Health Laboratories, Blood Transfusion Units, Doctors’ Independent Practice Places, and Dentist Independent Practice Places. Every clinic must undergo accreditation.

Objectives of Clinical Accreditation

Clinical accreditation is very necessary for both primary and main clinics, as an effort to improve the quality of clinics so that they can provide protection to the public regarding the quality of health services in clinics.

Accreditation Standards

Clinical accreditation standards consist of 3 chapters containing 22 standards and 104 assessment elements, with the following details:

Accreditation Results

After an assessment is carried out by an accreditation surveyor, the clinic will receive an accreditation determination based on the final results of the survey as well as the decision of the meeting of the independent institution administering the accreditation which will then be stipulated in the accreditation certificate. To determine clinical accreditation status, it is divided into 4, namely:

Accreditation ResultsClinical Accreditation Chapter

Plenary≥ 80%≥ 80%≥ 80%
Main≥ 80%≥ 60%≥ 80%
Intermediate≥ 75%≥ 40%≥ 75%
Not Accredited< 75%< 40%< 75%

Overall, clinical accreditation assessment is currently easier than in previous years, because there are fewer assessment elements. However, clinics that will apply for accreditation must ensure that they fulfill all the requirements that have been set.
