The Telkomsel Taqwa Council (MTT) together with Cita Sehat held a Free Health Service for fire survivors in the Manggarai area on September 28, 2024. This activity was located at Rusun Pasar Rumput, which is one of the evacuation sites/a temporary shelter for Manggarai fire victims.
The fire incident that burned down the densely populated settlement on Jalan Remaja 5, Manggarai Village, Tebet Subdistrict, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (August 13, 2024) night has resulted in 3,500 people becoming refugees. This incident has left thousands of people displaced, without adequate housing or only temporary shelter.

In such conditions, the health of these displaced persons also requires adequate support due to the abnormal circumstances they are experiencing.
Natural disasters inevitably cause hundreds or even thousands of residents to live together in evacuation camps. In such emergency conditions, they are of course vulnerable to diseases such as:
- Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI)
- Skin Diseases
- Lung Diseases and Others
- Hypertension and Stomach Acid
The presence of this free health service program is very much appreciated by the residents of Manggarai, who are currently still living as refugees.
Health Service
Health services begin at 9:00 a.m. with registration activity. Residents who wish to seek treatment register themselves at the registration desk. After that, residents move to the nurse’s desk to have their blood pressure, blood sugar, and uric acid checked. Once the results of their blood pressure, blood sugar, and uric acid checks are available, residents proceed to the doctor’s desk for a consultation about their concerns. Finally, patients submit the prescription given by the doctor to the pharmacy counter or medication pickup counter. After receiving their medication, patients may go home.

The enthusiasm of the residents was evident, with 108 residents participating in this health check-up activities which was organized by Majelis Telkomsel Taqwa and Cita Sehat.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Telkomsel Taqwa Council and Cita Sehat Foundation for providing health services at our refugee camp in Rusun Pasar Rumput. May you be even more successful in the future. Amen.“
