Water Pipes Damaged by Flooding; Cita Sehat Distributes 18,000 Liters of Clean Water to Residents of Padang
Padang, August 11, 2026 — The flash floods that struck several areas of Padang on August 3, 2026, not only submerged residential areas and disrupted daily life but also caused damage to residents’ water systems, making access to clean water even more difficult.
One of the areas affected is Lapau Munggu, Kuranji Subdistrict, Padang City. After the flood, residents had to find alternative water sources to meet their daily needs.
Before receiving aid, some residents collected water from the homes of neighbors who had wells. For washing, residents even used river water. Meanwhile, for cooking, residents had to buy bottled water in gallon containers.
These conditions show that even after the floodwaters receded, the community’s problems were far from over. Access to clean water has become an urgent need in the recovery process.
Cita Sehat Addresses Residents’ Clean Water Needs
In response to this situation, Cita Sehat, through its WASH GOOD program, distributed clean water to flood-affected residents in Lapau Munggu on August 8, 2026.
A total of 18,000 liters of clean water was distributed in two separate deliveries to help meet residents’ needs.
The arrival of the clean water tanks was enthusiastically welcomed by the community. Residents were seen lining up to receive water for their daily needs.
For the affected residents, this aid was particularly meaningful because their previous water sources had been disrupted by the flooding.
Clean Water: A Basic Need That Cannot Be Pushed Back
In post-disaster situations, access to clean water is a critical component of efforts to maintain public health and environmental hygiene.

The residents’ enthusiasm upon receiving the aid shows that the need for clean water in the affected areas remains high. Residents hope that water distribution can continue until access to water sources returns to normal.
