Nagekeo — The situation of survivors of the M7.7 earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, still needs attention. The ongoing aftershocks have left some residents feeling afraid and choosing to remain in evacuation centers. Amid these conditions, meeting residents’ basic needs remains a top priority.
Through the “Disaster Response: Supporting the M7.7 Earthquake in Flores, NTT” program, Cita Sehat distributed relief supplies to earthquake survivors in Translok Village, Aesesa Subdistrict, Nagekeo Regency, on August 19–20, 2026.
Addressing the Emergency Needs of Survivors
Help was organized based on the emergency needs of the community in the affected areas. Cita Sehat provided:
- Basic Food Supplies
- Medications
- Diapers
- Sanitary Pads
- Hygiene kit
The help was distributed directly to five evacuation centers over the course of two days. The distribution process even continued into the evening to ensure that those in need could receive the aid as soon as possible.
This distribution is part of Cita Sehat’s response to help meet the basic needs of communities affected by disasters, particularly those who need support in emergency situations.
Reaching Out to Residents at Evacuation Centers
On August 20, 2026, the Cita Sehat team distributed help at the first distribution points: Tent 1 at the Puta Marapokot Public Cemetery evacuation camp and Tent 2 at the Marapokot Public Cemetery. At these two locations, a total of 280 people received aid.
Distribution then continued to the second location: the Wewokor Jawa evacuation center in Mbay 2 Village, Aesesa Subdistrict, Nagekeo Regency. At this location, aid was provided to 7 households, totaling 25 people.
The distribution was carried out directly so that the aid could reach people in evacuation centers who had urgent needs.
When Residents Still Seek a Sense of Security
For the affected communities, the period following the earthquake does not mean that conditions have fully returned to normal. Aftershocks that continue to occur keep residents on high alert, and some still choose to stay in places they consider safer.
These conditions make it essential to meet needs such as food, medicine, hygiene supplies, and personal items like diapers and sanitary pads.
Therefore, disaster response is not just about providing help on the first day. Support is also needed as long as communities remain in an emergency situation and require access to basic necessities.

The distribution of this aid is a gesture of compassion made possible by the support of donors and the public who have joined the humanitarian response for the survivors of the Flores earthquake.
