Karawang, January 28, 2026 | School toilets are not merely ancillary facilities. Clean, safe, and adequate sanitation conditions are a key factor in maintaining students’ health and fostering a comfortable learning environment.
Driven by a concern for this situation, Kimberly-Clark Softex, together with Alfamart and Cita Sehat, collaborated to launch the Sanitation Facility Revitalization Program (Bathing, Washing, Toilets) at a number of schools. The program was officially launched on January 28, 2026, at SMPN 2 Kotabaru in Karawang, marking the start of the use of the renovated sanitation facilities.
This program is part of a shared commitment to improving the quality of the school environment by providing sanitation facilities that meet standards for cleanliness, safety, and comfort.
There Are Still Many School Toilets That Need Attention
In many schools, toilets are often facilities that receive little attention. Damaged floors, damp walls, poor ventilation, limited access to clean water, and unhygienic conditions remain common challenges.
In fact, inadequate sanitation facilities have the potential to increase the risk of disease transmission and reduce students’ comfort while engaging in learning activities at school.
A healthy school environment begins with adequate basic facilities. Therefore, improving the quality of school toilets is a concrete step toward supporting students’ health while fostering a culture of cleanliness from an early age.
Revitalizing Toilet Facilities to Create a Healthier Learning Environment
Through this program, Kimberly-Clark Softex, Alfamart, and Cita Sehat are revitalizing sanitation facilities in several regions, namely:
- Sumedang
- Kabupaten Bandung Barat
- Jakarta
- Karawang
The revitalization was carried out comprehensively so that the sanitation facilities can be used safely and comfortably by the entire school community.
The improvements made include:
- Repairs to toilet floors and walls
- Renovation of toilet doors
- Improvements to the ventilation system
- Provision of clean water access
- Rearrangement of the toilet area to make it more hygienic
- Improvements to user safety and comfort
Through these upgrades, the sanitation facilities are expected to meet the school’s sanitation needs while improving the quality of the learning environment.
Promoting Clean and Healthy Living Practices (PHBS) Starting in School
