East Manggarai, August 19, 2026 — The situation of survivors of the M7.7 earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, still requires attention. Aftershocks continue to occur, causing residents to fear returning to their homes, while many basic needs at the evacuation sites remain unmet.
Through the “Disaster Response : Help for the M7.7 Earthquake in Flores, NTT” program, Cita Sehat distributed aid to affected residents in Golo Lijun Village, Elar Subdistrict, East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, on August 19, 2026.
Aid Is Provided Based on Residents’ Needs
In an emergency, people’s needs extend further than just food. Health and hygiene supplies, as well as personal necessities, are also crucial considerations—especially for children, women, the elderly, and families still living in evacuation centers.
Cita Sehat distributed aid tailored to residents’ emergency needs, including:
- Basic Food Supplies
- Medications
- Diapers
- Sanitary Pads
- Hygiene Kit
The aid was distributed directly to residents through five evacuation centers in the Golo Lijun Village area.
Working Late Until Nightfall to Reach Survivors
The distribution process was carried out directly by the team on the ground and continued until nightfall. This measure was taken to ensure that aid could be delivered immediately to those in need, even though conditions on the ground were still affected by the aftermath of the earthquake and aftershocks.
For residents still in evacuation centers, basic necessities are essential to help them get through their days in conditions that have not yet fully returned to normal.
Amid the fear caused by aftershocks, the arrival of aid is expected to help meet residents’ needs while providing support to survivor families who are still staying in safe locations.
Humanitarian Response Driven by On-the-Ground Needs
Earthquakes not only cause damage to buildings and loss of life, but also force some people to leave their homes and seek safer places.
