BIMA, NTB – A passionate spirit of concern for environmental conservation and public health is surging along the northern coast of Bima Regency. Coinciding with the launch of the “Kampung Seraya” program by Cita Sehat, local volunteers from Seraya Local Bima successfully organized a beach cleanup.
This initiative took place at Pasir Putih Lewintana Beach, Lewintana Village, Soromandi Subdistrict, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Saturday (May 2, 2026). Held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WITA, this event marked the beginning of the Kampung Seraya movement’s commitment to creating a clean environment to support the physical health of the community.
Interestingly, this environmental initiative was organized by Seraya Local Bima, which successfully enlisted the participation of dozens of male and female students from the Al-Azzam Islamic Boarding School. Full of enthusiasm, the students took to the beach to comb the shoreline, picking up, collecting, and sorting plastic waste and other inorganic debris that were littering the tourist area.
The organizer of the event from Seraya Local Bima emphasized that this initiative was not merely a brief ceremony for the sake of formally launching the program. The active involvement of students from the Al-Azzam Islamic Boarding School brought a fresh perspective and tangibly demonstrated that religious education and concern for environmental conservation can go hand in hand in harmony. Preserving the ecosystem and local tourist sites is a collective responsibility shared by all segments of society.
In just a few hours, volunteers managed to collect dozens of large trash bags. The trash was immediately sorted by type to preserve the beach’s beauty and protect the underwater ecosystem from the dangers of microplastics.
The presence and hard work of these volunteers were met with a very warm welcome and appreciation from the local residents. An atmosphere of joy and togetherness was palpable as the students, the Seraya Local team, and the residents worked side by side to clean the stretch of sandy beach. The residents of Lewintana Village have high hopes that similar activities will be scheduled on a regular basis, so that Lewintana’s Pasir Putih Beach remains a premier destination that is clean, safe, and comfortable for tourists.
For information, this Beach Cleanup event in Bima is a small example of the implementation of the Kampung Seraya flagship program initiated by Cita Sehat. Guided by the vision “Healthy in Mind and Body to Empower,” Kampung Seraya is projected to become a holistic development area focused on preventive, promotive, and rehabilitative health interventions for rural communities across Indonesia.
As the event came to a close around noon, the message conveyed by all the volunteers was crystal clear: creating a clean Bima and a healthy Indonesia must begin with small, consistent actions taken collectively.
