Jakarta, July 6, 2026 – Cita Sehat, in collaboration with the UPZ BAZNAS of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, organized a mass circumcision event at the Jami’ Baitut Tholibin Mosque of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in Jakarta, as part of an effort to provide safe, high-quality health services while raising public awareness about the importance of circumcision for children’s health.
This initiative is a tangible example of synergy in utilizing Zakat, Infak, and Sedekah (ZIS) funds to provide benefits that the community can directly experience. In addition to providing free circumcision services, the initiative is also designed as an educational tool for parents to help them understand the post-circumcision care process, ensuring their children’s recovery proceeds optimally.
Circumcision as a Preventive Measure to Protect Children’s Health
Circumcision is not only part of tradition or a religious practice, but it also offers health benefits that are well-recognized in the medical community. One such benefit is that it helps reduce the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs), which, although more common in women, can also affect uncircumcised men.
In addition, circumcision helps maintain the hygiene of the reproductive organs, reduces the risk of infection, and serves as a preventive measure to support children’s long-term health. Therefore, education about the benefits of circumcision and post-circumcision care is an important part of this program.
Services Begin Early in the Morning with Structured Medical Procedures
The Cita Sehat medical team departed from the Cita Sehat Clinic at 6:00 a.m. and arrived at the location around 7:15 a.m. to prepare the procedure room and medical equipment.
Participants began arriving at 8:00 a.m. to register before undergoing health screenings conducted by Dr. Umi and Dr. Iqbal Afdi. These examinations were intended to ensure that every participant was in suitable condition to undergo circumcision and to provide a sense of security for both the children and their parents.
After the screening process was complete, participants waited their turn in the designated waiting room until the event officially began.
Education Is an Important Resource for Parents

The opening ceremony began at 9:10 a.m. WIB with opening remarks from the UPZ BAZNAS Kemendikdasmen board, followed by a health education session presented by Dr. Iqbal Afdi.
During the session, participants and parents received an explanation of the benefits of circumcision, the steps of the procedure their children would undergo, and guidelines for post-circumcision care to ensure a quick recovery and minimize the risk of infection.
This educational approach is an important part of Cita Sehat’s healthcare services, as the success of medical procedures is also influenced by the family’s understanding of how to provide proper care after the procedure is performed.
Prioritizing Participants’ Comfort and Safety
The circumcision procedure is performed in shifts by an experienced medical team. After the procedure is complete, each child undergoes a 5–10-minute observation period to ensure their condition remains stable before being allowed to go home.
During the observation period, parents receive medications as prescribed by the doctor, gift packages, and refreshments prepared by the organizing committee. This systematic service process is intended to provide a comfortable, safe, and humane healthcare experience for all participants.

Collaboration to Build a Healthier Society
Through this mass circumcision event, Cita Sehat, together with UPZ BAZNAS at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, has demonstrated that collaboration between philanthropic organizations and ZIS fund organizers can bring tangible benefits to the community.
This program is part of a shared commitment to expand access to preventive health services while improving public health literacy. The hope is that more Indonesian children will receive quality health care so they can grow up healthy, confident, and enjoy a better quality of life.
