Sambas, May 2026 – Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and metabolic disorders remain a health threat that is often overlooked by the public because their symptoms develop gradually. To address this challenge, the Cita Sehat, through its Kampung Seraya Cita Sehat program, organized a Noncommunicable Disease (NCD) Screening event on May 24, 2026, which was attended by 50 residents.
This event is part of a series of promotional and preventive efforts to raise public awareness of the importance of regular health checkups. In addition to receiving health education, residents also underwent metabolic screenings, including tests for blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol.
The event began with a registration process assisted by local PKK volunteers, followed by an oral pre-test to assess the participants’ initial understanding of noncommunicable diseases. Next, residents received health education presented in an interactive format through discussion and question-and-answer sessions. After a post-test was administered, the event concluded with metabolic screenings conducted on a rotating basis.

Medical Analysis Results & Field Findings
Based on the results of the screening conducted on 50 participants, a number of risk factors were identified that require collective attention. Random blood sugar tests showed that 44 residents fell within the normal range, while 6 residents had high blood sugar levels that require further monitoring.
In the uric acid screening, the results showed that 27 residents had high uric acid levels, while 23 residents fell within the normal range. These findings indicate that more than half of the participants are at risk for metabolic disorders that could affect their quality of life if not managed through healthy lifestyle changes and routine checkups.
Meanwhile, cholesterol tests showed that 26 residents had normal cholesterol levels, 15 were in the borderline-high category, and 9 had high cholesterol levels. This serves as a reminder that risk factors for heart and blood vessel diseases can arise without any noticeable daily symptoms.

These findings underscore the importance of regular health screenings, especially for people with busy schedules who are not in the habit of getting health checkups. With early detection, risk factors for chronic diseases can be managed before they develop into more serious complications that require costly treatment.
Mrs. Gianti, as Chair of the PKK Cadres, expressed her appreciation for the event:
“Alhamdulillah, these free health screenings have been a great help. This allows us to monitor our health early on, especially by checking our blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid levels. Hopefully, events like this will continue to be held,” she said.
A similar sentiment was expressed by one of the elderly participants, Mrs. Sulhotimah. She said she was pleased because the service provided was friendly and easy to understand:
“Alhamdulillah we’re very happy about this event—we’re able to get free health checkups. Thanks to this event organized by Cita Sehat, we feel that someone cares about us,” she said.

Through the Kampung Seraya Cita Sehat program, Cita Sehat continues to be committed to providing healthcare services that are accessible to the community. It focuses not only on treatment but also on health promotion and prevention efforts to raise awareness among the community about the importance of maintaining their health from an early age.
The support of donors and philanthropic partners plays a vital role in delivering health programs that make a difference in the community. As more people become aware of the importance of early detection, it is hoped that the rate of noncommunicable diseases can be reduced and the community’s quality of life can continue to improve.
